About Your Pilgrimage

Embark on a Slow and Easy 12-day Marian Pilgrimage aboard the AmaSonata of AmaWaterways, your floating sanctuary of prayer and comfort. This unique journey combines visits to sacred Marian shrines with the ease and beauty of a 7-night Blue Danube Discovery River Cruise through Central Europe. Celebrate daily Mass on board and in historic churches, enjoy fellowship over world-class dining, and let every moment be a step closer to God’s grace.

Marian Shrines on Your Pilgrimage

Budapest, Hungary – Our Lady of Máriaremete
On the peaceful outskirts of Budapest stands the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Máriaremete, home to a miraculous image of Our Lady. Originally placed on a tree by a devout woman, the image became a place of prayer and healing, including the miraculous cure of a blind woman in the early 1800s. Thousands of votive offerings testify to answered prayers, and Pope John Paul II himself once prayed here.

Augsburg, Germany – Our Lady, Undoer of Knots
In Augsburg’s Church of St. Peter am Perlach, pilgrims venerate the world-famous image of Our Lady, Undoer of Knots, painted in the 1700s by Johann Georg Melchior Schmidtner. The image portrays Mary patiently untying the knots of a ribbon—symbolizing her help in resolving the difficulties of life. Deeply loved by Pope Francis, who discovered it in 1986, the devotion has spread worldwide, drawing countless faithful to entrust their intentions before this sacred image.

Highlights of Your Blue Danube Discovery Cruise

Sailing on the award-winning AmaSonata, experience the best of Europe’s cultural and scenic treasures:

·        Budapest – A guided tour of the Hungarian capital, concluding with Holy Mass at Máriaremete.

·        Bratislava, Slovakia – Explore this charming capital with its baroque palaces and lively old town.

·        Vienna, Austria – The imperial city of music and culture, home to grand cathedrals and elegant boulevards.

·        Dürnstein & Melk, Austria – Visit the Wachau Valley, with its picturesque vineyards and the magnificent Melk Abbey.

·        Linz & Passau, Germany – Stroll through pastel-colored streets and visit historic churches in these beautiful river towns.

·        Nuremberg, Germany – Conclude your river journey in this storied city, before continuing on to Augsburg.

Each day, enjoy guided excursions with expert English-speaking guides, while returning to the ship’s comfort—gourmet dining, elegant staterooms (most with twin balconies), and warm fellowship with fellow pilgrims.

Optional Spain Extension (4 Days)

For those who wish to extend their pilgrimage:

·        Zaragoza – Visit the Shrine of Our Lady of the Pillar, where tradition holds that the Virgin Mary appeared to St. James the Apostle.

·        Monteagudo – Pray at the shrine of St. Ezequiel Moreno, the missionary saint and patron of cancer patients.

An Invitation of Grace

This is more than a regular river cruise. It is a Pilgrimage of faith—one that unites prayer, history, beauty, and fellowship. Come honor Our Lady in her shrines, walk in the footsteps of saints, and return home renewed, carrying God’s blessings and Mary’s motherly love in your heart.
