About Your Pilgrimage

Every step of a pilgrimage brings us closer to God. It renews our spirit, strengthens our prayer, and fills us with His peace. This Valentine’s Day, discover His love in the peaceful landscapes of Batanes and let creation renew your spirit. Join a 4-day Praycation to Batanes “A Valentine for the Soul” with a Pilgrimage Chaplain on February 12-15, 2026.

Your praycation begins with a guided Batan North Tour, starting at Radar Tukon, a former lighthouse perched on a hill with sweeping views of Batan Island, Mount Iraya, and both the South China Sea and the Pacific Ocean. Enjoy lunch at Café de TukonFundacion Pacita’s farm-to-table restaurant, before exploring Fundacion Pacita itself—once the home and studio of internationally acclaimed artist Pacita Abad, and now a tribute to the creative heritage of the Ivatan people.

On the way to Valugan Boulder Bay, visit Basco’s Didawud Idjang, an ancient fortress built by the Ivatan people as defense against invaders. At Valugan Boulder Bay, marvel at the shoreline strewn with medium- to large-sized stones, remnants of Mount Iraya’s past eruptions.

Celebrate mass at the Basco Cathedral, also known as Sto. Domingo de Basco. This is the first and oldest church in Batanes, dedicated to Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, the Patroness of province. Afterward, visit the Vayang Rolling Hills before proceeding to Naidi Hills, where the Basco Lighthouse offers sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, Mount Iraya, and Batan Island.

Head to San Vicente Port to board a faluwa, a traditional Ivantan boat, bound for Sabtang Island. Visit the San Vicente Ferrer Church, also called Sabtang Church, followed by Santa Rosa de Lima Chapel in Chavayan. Stop at the Sabtang Weavers Association, home of the traditional Ivatan vakul. Continue to Chamantad-Tinyang Viewpoint, where rugged cliffs rise above the hills and frame the breathtaking Chamantad Cove. Proceed to Savidug, a seaside village known for its iconic stone houses, passing by the ancient Savidug Idjang along the way. Not to be missed is Morong Beach, famous for the Mahayaw or Nakabuang Arch, a landmark of both Sabtang and Batanes. Take the return boat to San Vicente Port.

Head to Ivana and stop at the iconic Honesty Coffee Shop, one of Batanes’ most well-known attractions. Unmanned and relying solely on the honesty of its customers, it has become a symbol of Ivatan values. Celebrate Mass at the San Jose de Obrero Church, one of the best-preserved churches in the province. Then visit the House of Dakay—a timeless Ivatan treasure, regarded as one of the most iconic and oldest surviving stone houses in Batanes, and a favorite among visitors for photographs.

Make your way to the charming town of Mahatao, just 6 km from Basco. The winding road leading to this quaint town offers breathtaking views of Batan Island at every turn. Stop at the Tayid Lighthouse for morning prayers, then visit the Diura Fishing Village, the Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes, and Racuh Apayaman—also called “Marlboro Country“. Here, take in panoramic views of the sea, cliffs, and rolling pasturelands, where water buffaloes, horses, and cattle roam freely.

End your praycation with a Mass at the picturesque Mount Carmel Chapel, where couples will renew their marriage vows. Cap the evening with a Valentine’s dinner and fellowship at Katdan ni Odan, an evening of love, devotion, and shared blessings.

This Valentine’s, spend time with the Lord in prayer and thanksgiving, surrounded by creation’s awe-inspiring splendor. Join a 4-day Praycation to Batanes “A Valentine for the Soul” with a Pilgrimage Chaplain on February 12-15, 2026.  Experience deep peace as you behold the scenic Batanes landscape, a foretaste of heaven on earth.
