“Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” ~ Mark 6:31
Amid the busyness of everyday life, it is easy to become tired in mind, body and spirit. Yet God continues to invite us to draw near to Him, where true rest can be found. Join Fr. Franz Joseph Aquino on a 4-day Praycation to the Shrine of the Divine Mercy and Malaybalay on October 22–25, 2026. Through prayer, fellowship and reflection, may this journey renew your spirit and remind you that God is always waiting to embrace you.
Your journey begins in Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental, before proceeding to the Divine Mercy Archdiocesan Shrine in El Salvador. The shrine is best known for its towering 50-foot image of the Divine Mercy, considered the tallest of its kind in the world. It is also associated with the Dancing Sun Miracle witnessed by thousands of pilgrims on Divine Mercy Sunday in 2013. Celebrate Mass at the Divine Mercy Church and spend time in prayer at this sacred place.
Continue to Bukidnon and make your way to Dahilayan Forest Park Resort in Manolo Fortich, where you will stay for three nights. Surrounded by cool mountain air and the beauty of nature at the foot of Mount Kitanglad, the resort provides a peaceful setting for reflection and relaxation.
The following day, visit the Abbey of the Transfiguration, a contemplative monastic community of Benedictine monks (OSB) based in Malaybalay, Bukidnon. It is a peaceful sanctuary for prayer and contemplation. Celebrate Mass in its renowned Church of the Transfiguration, designed by National Artist Leandro Locsin, whose minimalist architecture beautifully reflects the Benedictine values of simplicity and stability. Enshrined at the center of the church is an image of Our Lady of Montserrat, personally brought by the Abbot of Montserrat in Barcelona, Spain, in 1997. Surrounded by the beauty of Bukidnon’s mountains and countryside, the monastery offers pilgrims a meaningful opportunity to encounter God in silence and prayer.
Continue your journey with a visit to Camp Phillips in Manolo Fortich, home to the vast Del Monte Pineapple Plantation. Take in the scenic views of the pineapple fields stretching across the landscape that have become a familiar part of Bukidnon’s landscape and enjoy lunch at the Del Monte Club House. Afterwards, return to Dahilayan Forest Park Resort for Mass and free time to relax or enjoy the resort’s facilities and outdoor activities amid the cool mountain surroundings.
On your final day, celebrate Mass at the historic St. Augustine Metropolitan Cathedral with Archbishop Jose Araneta Cabantan, DD. After lunch at Cucina Higala, make a stop at the Pasalubong Center before heading home.
