“Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” ~ Mark 6:31
We can experience true rest when we spend time in God’s presence. Leave behind your everyday concerns and spend time in the presence of the Divine. Embark on a 4-day Praycation to the Shrine of the Divine Mercy and Malaybalay with a Pilgrimage Chaplain leaving on November 23 – 26, 2023. May this spiritual journey reconnect you with God and give you a sense of peace that you won’t be able to find elsewhere.
Begin your praycation in Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental, where you will head for the Divine Mercy Archdiocesan Shrine in El Salvador after lunch. The famous shrine is home to a 50-foot statue of the Divine Mercy, the tallest of its kind in the whole world. The Dancing Sun Miracle, which occurred on the Feast of the Divine Mercy on April 7, 2013, and was witnessed by 10,000 pilgrims, has been linked to healings and conversions. There is also a fountain of holy water, which is said to bring about healing. Celebrate Mass in the Divine Mercy Church.
Enjoy a scenic ride to Bukidnon until you reach the town of Manolo Fortich and check in at the Dahilayan Forest Park Resort, where you will spend three nights. Nestled at the foot of Mount Kitangland at 4,700 feet above sea level, the Dahilayan Forest Park Resort boasts a cool and relaxing ambience built for families.
After a restful night, head for Malaybalay City in Bukidnon to visit the Benedictine Monastery of the Transfiguration, a place of prayer and meditation. Join the monks in their 11:30 morning prayers. Enjoy God’s presence and the breathtaking beauty of creation at the same time. Not to be missed is the mass that will be held at the Pyramid of Giza Church, which was constructed by national artist Leandro Locsin and is renowned for its unique and modern architecture.
Still in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, enjoy a half-day visit at Camp Phillips, where the Del Monte Pineapple Plantation is located. Marvel at the vast field of pineapples covering around 9000 hectares of land and smell the sweet scent of pineapple that permeates the place. Enjoy a delightful lunch at the Del Monte Club House. Head back to Dahilayan Forest ParkResort to celebrate Mass and enjoy the resort’s facilities and fun outdoor activities. Return to the hotel for dinner and an evening of fellowship.
Cap off your pilgrimage with a visit to the major sights of Cagayan de Oro and a Mass at the centuries-old St. Augustine Metropolitan Cathedral.
