Begin your pilgrimage in Sta. Barbara to visit the Sta. Barbara Church, known as the “cradle of independence” in Panay and the Visayas. Next stop is a visit to the Church of San Jose (Iglesia de San Jose de Placer), the first church to be built in Iloilo City in 1607. The church houses two important treasures of Ilonggo culture and history – the image of Nuestra Senora del Rosario (Our Lady of the Rosary) and the replica image of Sto. Nino de Cebu.
Travel on to La Paz district to visit La Paz Church, where an image of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage is enshrined. Honored for more than a century at the parish, Our Lady had enjoyed the love and affection of her devotees. Proceed to St. Clements Church which houses the image of Our Mother of Perpetual Help.
Celebrate Mass at the San Joaquin Church. Built in 1869, the church distinguishes itself from other churches in the Philippines because of its militaristic theme carved on its façade. Visit heaven on earth at the awesome Garin Farm of San Joaquin, a unique yet enchanting blend of nature, spirituality and leisure. Spend time in prayer at the Pilgrimage Hill which features the story of Creation up to Christ’s ascension.
Head for the Church of Saint Thomas of Villanueva, commonly known as Miagao Church. The church is famous for the painstakingly detailed sculptural relief on its pediment. Built in 1731, it is considered as one of the oldest churches in the Philippines. The church was designated as one of the best examples of the Baroque Churches of the Philippines and included in the list of World Heritage sites by UNESCO. Not to be missed is a visit to Sto. Nino de Arevalo Parish which houses the third oldest Sto. Nino image in the country.
Get some rest and relaxation during a full day Guimaras Island Tour. Celebrate Mass in the chapel of the Our Lady of the Philippines Monastery, the only Trappist monastery in the Philippines under the Cistercian Order.
Wind down your pilgrimage in Jaro where Mass will be celebrated at the Jaro Cathedral or Nuestra Senora de la Candelaria, the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Jaro. The image of Our Lady of Candles, enshrined in the church, is the second oldest Marian image in the Philippines and was crowned by St. Pope John Paul II during his visit on February 21, 1981. End your Visita Iglesias Pilgrimage in Iloilo with a visit to the Parish of St. Anne in Molo.
