About Your Pilgrimage

Our Lady of Guadalupe is the title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary after she appeared to St. Juan Diego in the village of Guadalupe, Mexico. This encounter brought about the great miracle—the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary imprinted on St. Juan Diego’s tilma (cloak). See the original, sacrosanct tilma enshrined at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe and offer your prayers before her miraculous image. Join a 10-day pilgrimage to Mexico with the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe with Fr. Robi Okol, on March 12–21, 2026.

Begin your pilgrimage with a full-day tour of Mexico City. Proceed to Tlatelolco to visit the Plaza of the Three Cultures, where the Temple of St. James the Apostle stands. Visit the Church of Santiago de Tlatelolco, home to the baptismal font where St. Juan Diego received the sacrament of baptism.

Head to Santo Domingo Plaza, where the Dominicans built their first church and where the Inquisition once held court. Visit the Church of Santo Domingo, founded in 1576, which houses two beautiful shrines—Our Lady of the Rosary and Our Lady of Covadonga. Continue to the grand Metropolitan Cathedral, formally known as the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Assumption of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven, the largest church in Latin America. Inside, admire its chapels and altars, including the ornate gold Altar of Forgiveness and the Chapel of the Kings. Proceed to the National Palace, the official residence of the President of Mexico, to view Diego Rivera’s magnificent mural The History of Mexico, a sweeping portrayal of the nation’s past through art.

Spend a blessed day with Our Lady at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which houses the original tilma bearing her image. See the bent crucifix, known as the Holy Christ of the Attack, which miraculously absorbed the impact of a dynamite explosion in 1921—leaving the image of Our Lady completely unharmed. After touring both the old and new basilicas, continue to Tepeyac Hill, the Chapel of the Well, and the beautiful surrounding gardens.

Travel to Ocotlán, known for the Blessed Mother’s apparition in 1541. Celebrate Mass at the Basilica of the Virgin of Ocotlán, which enshrines the miraculous image of Our Lady of Ocotlán. Continue to Puebla and visit the magnificent 16th-century Basilica-Cathedral, a masterpiece of baroque architecture rich in religious and cultural heritage. Inside the serene Church of Santo Domingo, discover the breathtaking Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary—hailed as the “Eighth Wonder of the World.” Its walls shimmer with gold leaf, sculptures, and paintings. Your next stop is the Convent of Sta. Monica, featuring 39 rooms filled with sacred art and relics.

Make your way to Cuautitlán, the town where St. Juan Diego was born. Here you’ll find the Santuario El Cerrito San Juan Diego, a revered site that preserves his memory through a museum chronicling his life and his encounter with Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Travel to San Miguel de Allende, a charming colonial town known for its cobblestone streets and beautiful churches. Visit the iconic Parish of San Miguel Archangel (Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel), a neo-Gothic masterpiece unique to Mexico. Nearby stands the Sanctuary of Atotonilco (Sanctuary of Jesús Nazareno de Atotonilco), a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its stunning Mexican Baroque murals. Often called the “Sistine Chapel of Mexico,” this sacred complex is also known as the “National Sanctuary of the Sacred War.”

Enjoy a full-day excursion to the picturesque city of Guanajuato. Celebrate Mass at Cerro del Cubilete, then visit the striking orange-yellow Basilica of Nuestra Señora de Guanajuato, which houses the revered image of the Virgin—the city’s patroness and most treasured symbol. Afterwards, return to San Miguel de Allende to visit the Iglesia de San Francisco.

Leave San Miguel de Allende for your three-night stay in Guadalajara, Mexico’s second-largest city. En route, stop at San Juan de los Lagos to celebrate Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of Nuestra Señora de San Juan de los Lagos, which enshrines a miraculous image of Our Lady of San Juan de los Lagos.

Spend a day in Zapopan and celebrate Mass at the Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of Zapopan, home to the miraculous image of Our Lady of Zapopan. Continue your journey the next day to Sahuayo for Mass at the Church of St. James, the sacred site where St. José Sánchez del Río—a courageous 14-year-old martyr of the Cristero War—was held captive for his faith.

Join a 10-day Pilgrimage to Mexico with the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe with Fr. Robi Okol, on March 12-21, 2026. May this pilgrimage bring each pilgrim closer to Mary, who, like a Mother, looks upon her children with tenderness, mercy, and love.

“Am I not here, I who am your Mother? Are you not under my shadow and protection? Let nothing else worry you or disturb you.”
