About Your Pilgrimage

Grab the opportunity to visit five of Europe’s most beautiful countries and see this rare combination of Eastern Europe’s most intriguing cities: Budapest, Krakow, Prague, Vienna, and more. Be blessed by the powerful graces of the great Shrines of the Divine Mercy in Lagiewniki and the Black Madonna of Czestochowa. Join a 16-day Pilgrimage to Eastern Europe (Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, and Hungary) with a Fr. Joey Faller on April 28 – May 13, 2025.

Your pilgrimage begins in Berlin, Germany, with a mass at St. Hedwig’s Cathedral, the Bishop’s Church of the Archdiocese of Berlin. After mass, enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of the city.

Leave Germany for Poland and go to the city of Poznan, the fifth largest and one of the oldest cities in Poland. Badly damaged in World War II, the city (especially its Old Town) has been beautifully restored. The huge Old Town Square (Stary Rynek) is one of Europe’s nicest and is lined by fabulous historic attractions, restaurants, and nightlife. Celebrate mass at the Church of St. Stanislaus the Bishop, one of the most beautiful churches in Poland and one of the most exquisite examples of Baroque architecture in Poland. Enjoy a half-day guided tour of the city, which includes a visit to the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Poland’s oldest cathedral.

Head for Warsaw. Rising from the ashes of its tumultuous past, Warsaw is a fascinating collection of neighborhoods and landmarks. Stop at the Palace of Culture and Science, one of the highest and most magnificent buildings in Warsaw. Its majestic tower is visible from almost all places in the city. The Royal Lazienski Park, a breathtaking blend of nature and history, is the next stop. With its many palaces, pavilions, and well-kept gardens, this enormous park provides a peaceful haven from the bustle of the city. Not to be missed is the 18th century Palace on the Water and the Monument of Chopin.  Visit Niepokalanow, an important pilgrimage shrine founded by St. Maximilian Kolbe.

Continue with your pilgrimage to Czestochowa in order to see the revered miraculous icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa while at the Jasna Gora Monastery. Numerous miracles and answered prayers have been attributed to the intercession of Our Lady of Czestochowa.

Make your way to the Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Lagiewniki. St. Faustina’s grave and the miraculous image of the Merciful Jesus, stands at the heart of the shrine of the chapel. On to Krakow to visit its postcard-perfect Old Town, which comes complete with Europe’s largest medieval market square and a fairytale castle overlooking the river. See the Castle which was home to many Polish kings and queens. Stop at Grodzka Street, where you will find two adjacent houses where Pope John Paul II lived in 1951 – 1963.

Travel to Wadowice, St. John Paul II’s hometown. Have a guided tour of the Pope’s Family Home, now a museum. See the Basilica of the Blessed Virgin Mary’s Sacrifice, where Karol Wojtyla was baptized and served as an altar boy in his youth.

Leave Poland for the Czech Republic to spend two nights in Prague, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Celebrate Mass at the Church of Our Lady of Victorious, which houses the original image of the Sto. Nino del Praga. Enjoy a leisurely walk through the famous Charles Bridge and into the Old Town with the famous Town Hall’s astronomical clock.

Austria’s capital city, Vienna, offers a unique blend of imperial traditions, music, and endearing charm. This fascinating city is a collage of green, rolling vineyards and magnificent imperial buildings Vienna is known for. Not to be missed is a drive around Vienna’s Ringstrasse, the most beautiful boulevard in the world and home to many of Vienna’s best-known sights. Celebrate mass at St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the symbol of Vienna and also the very center of the city.

Leave Austria for Hungary and drive to the city of Esztergom, believed to be the birthplace of the first Hungarian King and Saint, Stephen I.

Wind down your pilgrimage in Budapest, the capital and most populous city of Hungary. Often described as the “Little Paris of Middle Europe,” Budapest is famous for its monuments reflecting its 1,000-year-old culture. The capital has two sides, Buda and Pest, stretching along the banks of the Danube, representing two different characters of the city.
