“Love Our Lady, and she will obtain abundant grace to help you conquer in your daily struggle.”
– Saint Josemaria Escriva
Why go on a Marian Pilgrimage? A journey to the Marian Shrines is a grace-filled way to draw closer to Mary, our Blessed Mother. Visiting the sacred places where the Virgin Mary appeared deepens faith and leads us more intimately to her Son, Jesus. Embark on a 16-day Pilgrimage to the Great Marian Shrines of Europe—Belgium, France, Spain, and Portugal—with Fr. Froilan Briones, SSS, on October 12–27, 2026.
Your pilgrimage begins with a Mass at the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula in Brussels, Belgium. Also known as the Brussels Cathedral, this medieval sanctuary is one of the finest examples of Brabantine Gothic architecture and is recognized as one of the city’s most important monuments. Afterward, enjoy a full-day guided tour of Brussels, including a visit to the Grand Place—the city’s central square and one of the most beautiful squares in Europe.
Journey to Banneux to visit the Shrine of the Virgin of the Poor. During Our Lady’s third apparition, she led the visionary Mariette Beco to a spring of water, where she revealed herself as the Virgin of the Poor and said, “This fountain is reserved for all the nations to bring comfort to the sick.” Following the apparitions, many healing miracles associated with the spring at Banneux were reported.
The next stop is Beauraing, where you will celebrate Mass at the Shrine of Our Lady of Beauraing, also known as the Virgin with the Golden Heart. Here, Our Lady appeared 33 times to five children, to whom she promised the conversion of sinners.
Continue your journey to the romantic city of Paris, France. Enjoy a guided sightseeing tour, including a visit and Mass at the Church of the Miraculous Medal. From Paris, travel south to Nevers to visit the St. Gildard Convent, where the incorrupt body of St. Bernadette Soubirous lies. Proceed to Paray-le-Monial, the birthplace of devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Then travel on to Ars to visit the Basilica of Ars, home to the reliquary containing the body of St. Jean Marie Vianney, patron saint of priests.
The next stop is a visit to the breathtaking Sanctuary of Notre-Dame of La Salette, an apparition site of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The message of La Salette calls all people to conversion through daily prayer and the Sacraments of Penance and the Eucharist.
En route to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes, stop at the Shrine of Our Lady of Laus—one of the five Marian apparition sites in France officially recognized by the Catholic Church. Here, Mary revealed herself as the Reconciler and Refuge of Sinners. Upon arrival in Lourdes, attend the evening Rosary and Candlelight Procession. Spend time in quiet reflection at the Grotto of Massabielle, the site of the Blessed Virgin’s apparitions. Be sure to find time to bathe in the Baths, where 70 healings have been reported and officially recognized by the Catholic Church.
Leave France for Spain and visit the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Arantzazu, where St. Ignatius of Loyola spent a night in vigil and made his vow of chastity. For Ignatius, this was a moment of great grace, strengthening his resolve to follow Christ. Continuing in Spain, travel to Burgos to celebrate Mass at the Cathedral of Saint Mary of Burgos—also known as Burgos Cathedral—a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its stunning Gothic architecture.
Conclude your pilgrimage in the holy town of Fatima, Portugal, with a two-night stay at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima. It was here that the Blessed Virgin appeared to three shepherd children—Lucia and her cousins Francisco and Jacinta—between May and October 1917, bringing a message of prayer, penance, and conversion.
