Holy Land
“I rejoiced with those who said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.” Our feet are standing your gates, Jerusalem.” ~ Psalm 122:1
Embark on a profound journey of faith as you walk in the footsteps of Jesus in the Holy Land. Experience the Bible come alive as you visit the sacred places where He lived, taught, and performed miracles. Join a 10-day Pilgrimage to the Holy Land with a Pilgrimage Chaplain from October 20-29, 2025.
Begin your pilgrimage in Nazareth, where Jesus spent His early years. Stand in awe before the majestic Basilica of the Annunciation, built over the very site where the Angel Gabriel proclaimed to Mary that she would be the Mother of God. Just a short walk away, visit the Church of St. Joseph, believed to be the site of St. Joseph’s carpentry workshop.
Journey to Capernaum, known as the town of Jesus and the heart of His ministry in Galilee. Walk through the ruins of the ancient synagoguewhere He preached and taught with divine authority. Capernaum is also the hometown of the apostles Peter, James, Andrew, John, and Matthew, the tax collector. At the awe-inspiring Mount of Beatitudes, reflect on the powerful message of the Sermon on the Mount. Not to be missed is an enjoyable boat ride crossing the Sea of Galilee, where Jesus performed numerous miracles.
At the Jordan River, where Jesus was baptized by St. John the Baptist, pilgrims will renew their baptismal vows. While in Cana, the site of Jesus’ first miracle, married couples will renew their marriage vows at the Wedding Church. Set out towards Mount Tabor, the site of the transfiguration of Jesus. Ascend to the summit to visit the breathtaking Church of the Transfiguration, one of Holy Land’s most stunning churches.
Enter the sacred town of Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus. Visit the Basilica of the Nativity, which houses the Grotto of the Nativity and the Altar of Christ’s Birth. A silver star marks the exact place where Jesus was born.
Next, journey to Jerusalem, a city holy to Jews, Christians, and Muslims. This is the heart of the Holy Land, where Jesus was crucified, died, and rose again. Walk prayerfully through the ancient streets of the Old City and follow the Via Dolorosa (Way of Sorrows), retracing Christ’s final steps as you reflect on His passion and sacrifice. Stand in awe at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, built over Golgotha, the very site of His crucifixion, and venerate the place where He gave His life for mankind.
At the Church of the Visitation in Ein Karem, admire the beautifully inscribed ceramic tablets adorning the walls, each bearing the Magnificat in different languages—a testament to Mary’s joyful song of praise. Gaze upon the striking mosaic on the church’s façade, a stunning depiction of the Visitation, capturing the moment when Mary greeted her cousin Elizabeth.
Cap off your pilgrimage in Emmaus, a town where Jesus appeared after his death and resurrection, before two of his disciples while they were walking on the road to Emmaus. Celebrate a Thanksgiving Mass at the Monastere de la Resurrection in Abu Gosh, one of the most beautiful buildings preserved from the Crusader Period.
