Slovenia’s capital and largest city, is one of Europe’s greenest and most liveable capitals.

It was the European Commission’s Green Capital of Europe in 2016. Car traffic is restricted in the centre, leaving the leafy banks of the emerald-green Ljubljanica River, which flows through the city’s heart, free for pedestrians and cyclists. In summer, cafes set up terrace seating along the river; it almost feels like a nightly street party.

Slovenia’s master of early-modern, minimalist design, Jože Plečnik, graced Ljubljana with beautiful bridges and buildings as well as dozens of urban design elements such as pillars, pyramids and lamp posts, which exist solely to make the city even prettier. Attractive cities are often described as ‘jewel boxes’, and here the name really fits. Some 50,000 students support an active clubbing scene, and Ljubljana’s museums and restaurants are among the best in the country.

Bled is Slovenia’s most popular resort.

Sheltered by the picturesque mountains of the Julian Alps, Bled sits in the middle of an emerald-green lake with a picture-postcard church on the islet, and a medieval castle clinging to a rocky cliff. Bled is a sight that stays in your memory. The town has long been a destination for those seeking relaxation, through its sunny alpine air and thermal spring.

Bled is known for the glacial Lake Bled, which makes it a major tourist attraction. Perched on a rock overlooking the lake is the iconic Bled Castle.

Due to its mild climate, Bled has been visited by aristocratic guests from all across the world. Today it is an important convention center and tourist resort.

Postojna is a town in the Coast and Karst region of Slovenia.

The town is well known for the jaw dropping Postojna Cave, the best known cave in the world. A series of caverns, halls and passages, some 24km long and two million years old, was hollowed out by the Pivka River, which enters a subterranean tunnel near the cave’s entrance.

Zagreb is the capital and largest city of Croatia.

It is a vibrant city that boasts a charming medieval “old city”with architecture and cobbled streets reminiscent of Vienna, Budapest, Prague and other Central- European capitals.

Zagreb got its start as two medieval fortress towns atop hills overlooking the Sava River, and was reborn in the Baroque period as center of business, perfectly located on routes connecting Central Europe to the Adriatic Sea. These days, Zagreb is the heart of contemporary Croatia’s culture, art, sports, and academics, but its history is not forgotten.

Rastoke is the historic center of the Croatian municipality of Slunj known for its well-preserved mills and little waterfalls along the Slunjcica river.

In its formation, Rastoke serves as an introduction to the Plitvice Lakes and therefore often being referred to as “the Small Lakes of Plitvice”. In contrast to the Lakes Rastoke features a three hundred-year old village with houses and watermills.

Rastoke is a place of native ecologic and ethnographic significance due to its symbiosis of natural and civilizational features. Due to its rich heritage in 1969 Rastoke was registered as an immovable cultural monument in the Regional Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments in Zagreb.

Plitvice Lakes National Park is the oldest national park in Southeast Europe and the largest national park in Croatia.

It is situated in the mountainous karst area of central Croatia, at the border of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In 1970, Plitvice Lakes National Park was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites.

The beauty of Plitvice National Park lies in its sixteen lakes, interconnected by a series of waterfalls, and set in deep woodland populated by deer, bears, wolves, boars and rare bird species. The National Park covers a total area of 300 square kilometres, whilst the lakes join together over a distance of eight kilometres. The lakes are renowned for their distinctive colors ranging from azure to green, grey or blue. The colors change constantly depending on the quantity of minerals or organisms in the water and the angle of sunlight.

The national park area is home to many endemic species. Those species that prevailed at the lakes before the arrival of man still exist.

Trogir is a historic town and harbour on the Adriatic coast in Split-Dalmatia County, Croatia.

Gorgeous Trogir (called Trau by the Venetians) is set within medieval walls on a tiny island, linked by bridges to both the mainland and to the far larger Čiovo Island. The old town has retained many intact and beautiful buildings from its age of glory between the 13th and 15th centuries.

Since 1997, the historic center of Trogir has been included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage sites for its Venetian architecture.

Split is the second largest city in Croatia.

The city was originally built around the Diocletian palace (a palace and fort built for the retired Roman emperor, Diocletian) where the locals sought refuge centuries ago. Split has a unique setting. Its dramatic coastal mountains act as the perfect backdrop to the turquoise waters of the Adriatic.

In 1979, the historic center of Split was included into the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. Split is said to be one of the centers of Croatian culture. Its literary tradition can be traced to medieval times.

Medjugorje is a town located in the Herzegovina region of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The name Medjugorje literally means “between mountains.” It has a mild Mediterranean climate.

On June 25, 1981, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to six children in the mountain village of Medjugorje. To this day, the Blessed Virgin Mary is coming and giving messages to the world through these 6 people (known as visionaries): Ivanka,Mirjana, Vicka, Maria, Ivan and Jacov. She tells us that God has sent Her to our world, and these years she is spending with us are a time of Grace granted by God. The Blessed Virgin Mary comes with a mission of peace and love and urges us to return to God with all our hearts.

The place is now a popular site of religious pilgrimages.

Mostar is a city in Bosnia and Hezegovina.

The city was the most heavily bombed of any Bosnian city during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina following the breakup of Yugoslavia. At the beginning of the war, air strikes destroyed many important buildings and structures, including the cultural and spiritual icon: The Old Bridge (Stari Most).

Mostar has been most famous for this beautiful historic Ottoman style bridge, which spanned the Neretva river in what is considered the historic center of the city. A significant portion of the city has been rebuilt and visitors might be surprised to see that this formerly war torn city is a lively and beautiful destination once again.

Dubrovnik is a stunningly intact walled city on the Adriatic Sea coast in the extreme south of Croatia.

It is the proudest feather in Croatia’s tourist cap, an elite destination and one of the most beautiful towns in the Mediterranean.  Dubbed as the Pearl of the Adriatic, it is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1979.

Home to many notable poets, playwrights, painters, mathematicians, physicists and other scholars, Dubrovnik was one of the centers of the development of the Croatian language and literature.

Bari is a big port city on the Adriatic coast; the capital of the Italian region of Puglia.

Between the heart of the Old Town and the sea is Bari’s most famous church, the 11^th century Romanesque Basilica di San Nicola, dedicated to St. Nicholas, also known as Santa Claus. Bari’s other great church is Bari’s Cathedral, also known as Cattedrale di San Sabino.

Monte Sant Angelo, home to the oldest shrine in Western Europe dedicated to the Archangel Michael and associated with apparitions of the archangel that took place in the 4th century.

The town of Monte Sant’Angelo is in a panoramic position on the Gargano promontory, with views extending over the hills and down to the Adriatic Sea. The whitewashed town is a delight to see and experience!

Rome, the Eternal City, is the capital and largest city of Italy.

It is the famed city of the Roman Empire, the Seven Hills, La Dolce Vita (the sweet life), the Vatican City and Three Coins in the Fountain.

Rome, as a millennium-long center of power, culture and religion, has exerted a huge influence over the world in its roughly 2,800 years of existence.  The historic center of the city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Rome has an immensely rich historical heritage and cosmopolitan atmosphere, making it one of Europe’s and the world’s most visited, famous,  influential and beautiful capitals. Today, Rome has a growing nightlife scene and is also seen as a shopping heaven, being regarded as one of the fashion capitals of the world. With so many sights and things to do, Rome can truly be classified a “global city.”

The Vatican City is a walled enclave within the city of Rome. It is the temporal seat of the Pope, the head of the worldwide Catholic Church. It is also the world’s smallest state.

San Giovanni Rotondo was the home of St. Pio of Pietrelcina from July 28, 1916 until his death on September 23, 1968.

It is a city in the province of Foggia, Puglia region in southern Italy.

San Giovanni Rotondo centers on the tomb of St. Padre Pio, a Capuchin friar, priest and mystic known for his devotion to God, care for the sick and supernatural gifts. He was declared a saint in 2002.

The Shrine of Padre Pio in San Giovanni Rotondo receives 7 million pilgrims each year. The large and ultramodern Padre Pio Pilgrimage Church was built in devotion to the saint and to accommodate the increasing throngs of pilgrims that visit the place.

The city is renowned for its hospital and medical research center Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza (Home for the Relief of the Suffering) founded by St. Pio of Pietrelcina and is considered one of the most efficient hospitals in Europe.

Brezje is a settlement in the Municipality of Radovljica in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia.

It is best known for Mary Help of Christians Basilica, the largest pilgrimage church in Slovenia and national shrine of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Ljubljana. The present-day Neo-Renaissance church building modelled on the Basilica of Saint Mary of the Angels in Assisi was consecrated in 1900.

Mary Help of Christians Basilica is also the monastery church of a Franciscan convent established at the site in 1898.

On Oct 5, 1988, the building was honored with the title of minor basilica by apostolic grant of Pope John Paul II; he visited Brezje on May 17, 1996. In 2000, the Slovenian Bishops Conference declared the church as a national shrine.
