Medjugorje is often described as the place where Heaven meets Earth. A special place that pulsates with a spiritual resonance that attunes you to God.
See the world’s most inspirational sites and relics on a journey through the Shrines of Italy. From the hallowed Basilica of St. Francis to the glorious Sistine Chapel, discover why Italy is a bastion of Catholicism. Enjoy a three-night stay in Rome, the heart and home of the Catholic Church, and discover the city’s art and innumerable treasures.
“I personally experienced his fatherly presence and healing through his statue that constantly shed perspiration and tears during my bout with cancer last year. After my last chemotherapy in November 2018, it no longer shed tears, nor perspired, as if telling me that my cancer is gone. His statue, which was given to me by Maribi Garcia and Fr. Soy Hernando, MB, remains in our Mission Home in Christ the King Seminary where people have come to pray and ask for his loving intercession.”

Join a 14-day Pilgrimage to the Shrines of Italy and Medjugorje with St. Ezekiel Moreno in Spain with Fr. Jerry Orbos, SVD on May 6 – 19, 2024.
Begin your pilgrimage with a 3-night stay in the beautiful city of Rome. Dubbed the greatest open-air museum in Europe, Rome will steal your breath away. Visit the major shrines and basilicas of Rome, including the Basilica of St. Peter, built over the tomb of St. Peter; the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, built over the burial place of St. Paul; and the Church of Saint Paul at the Three Fountains, site of the martyrdom of Saint Paul. Not to be missed is the opportunity to attend the Papal Audience with Pope Francis at St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City.
From Rome, travel north to the village of Cascia, the hometown of St. Rita, known as the Saint of the impossible. Visit the Monastery and Basilica of Santa Rita of Cascia, the minor basilica where the incorrupt body of St. Rita is preserved. Continue your pilgrimage to Assisi, one of the best-preserved medieval towns in the world and one of Italy’s most captivating little towns. Assisi is the birthplace of St. Francis, founder of the Franciscan order and one of the most revered Catholic saints. Marvel at the grandiose and gorgeously embellished Basilica di San Francesco, which contains the sacred relics of St. Francis and beautiful frescoes of his life.
Head for Loreto to visit the Basilica of the Holy House, a shrine believed to be the house where our Blessed Mother was conceived and born and where the Holy Family lived. Pious devotees believe that the same house was flown over by angelic beings from Nazareth to Dalmatia (modern-day Croatia). Then the house was again transported to the hilltop town of Loreto in Italy in 1294. Next stop is Lanciano to view the Eucharistic Miracle, still miraculously preserved in a monstrance at the Church of St. Legontian since the 8th century.
Journey on to San Giovanni Rotondo, where St. Padre Pio spent most of his life. Visit the cell where St. Padre Pio lived and died. See the crucifix in front of which he received the stigmata while praying in the Church of Our Lady of Grace (Santa Maria delle Grazie Church). Pray before his incorrupt body displayed in a part-glass coffin at the Sanctuary of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina (sometimes referred to as Padre Pio Pilgrimage Church). Head for the Monte Sant’ Angelo to visit the grotto that houses the Sanctuary of St. Michael the Archangel (Santuario di San Michele Arcangelo). It is believed that here, St. Michael the Archangel appeared and consecrated the shrine himself.
Head for the village of Corato, the birthplace and resting place of another contemplative mystic, Luisa Piccarreta. Luisa Piccarreta was born in Corato, Italy, in 1865. She is another great – and still largely hidden – victim soul. She spent 64 years bedridden in her home, where she united her sufferings to the sacrifice of Christ. Visit St. Maria Greca Church, Luisa’s final resting place.
Travel onward to Bari Port for your overnight ferry to Dubrovnik. Steeped in stunning architecture and sculptural detail, Dubrovnik is nicknamed “the Pearl of the Adriatic” and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Enjoy a walking tour of the “Old Dubrovnik” and visit its major sights. Not to be missed is a mass at the Church of St. Blaise.
From Dubrovnik, drive to Medjugorje, a special place chosen by God where the Blessed Virgin Mary has been appearing every day since 1981. During your three-day stay here, make sure to spend a lot of time in prayer and reflection. Make sure to join the evening rosary prayers at the Church of St. James. Climb the Apparition Hill, the site of the first apparitions. Along the path, the Wooden Cross marks the site where Our Lady made the first call for peace.
Leave Medjugorje in Croatia for Barcelona, Spain. Travel onwards to Montserrat to visit the Santa Maria de Montserrat, an abbey of the Order of Saint Benedict notable for enshrining the miraculous image of the Virgin of Montserrat, or La Moreneta, one of Spain’s most revered icons.
Continue your pilgrimage to the town of Monteagudo to visit the Convent of the Way, where St. Ezekiel’s incorrupt body is kept. This was where St. Ezekiel Moreno spent his final days and died on August 19, 1906.
Wind down your pilgrimage in Zaragoza to visit the Basilica of Nuestra Senora del Pilar, the first church dedicated to Mary in history, and it remains standing to this day, having survived invasions and wars. Our Lady of the Pillar (officially in Spanish, Nuestra Señora del Pilar de Zaragoza,) is recognized as the first Marian apparition in the history of Christianity and is the only one that happened while the Virgin Mary was still alive.
Travel with Fr. Jerry Orbos, SVD, on a spiritual journey to the Shrines of Italy and Medjugorje with a visit to St. Ezekiel Moreno, patron saint of cancer patients, in Spain on May 6-19, 2024. While on pilgrimage, ask God to bless you with a heart that will be receptive to the treasure chest of graces He desires to shower upon your pilgrimage. May this experience help deepen your faith and love for Jesus, the Blessed Mother, and the Saints.
