Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, and Hungary
A pilgrimage is a journey of discovery. It is an opportune time to explore new places, pray in holy shrines, learn about the lives of endeared saints, and gain new friends. However, a pilgrimage is also an internal journey of self-discovery. It is an opportunity to grow deeper in one’s relationship with God. You are invited to take a Journey of Faith to Eastern Europe (Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, and Hungary) with Fr. Roland Tuazon, CM, on October 4-17, 2024. Get closer to Jesus and discover your true purpose in Him.
Begin your pilgrimage in Warsaw, Poland. Rising from the ashes of its tumultuous past, Warsaw is a fascinating collection of neighborhoods and landmarks. Not to be missed is a delightful walk along the Old Town and Royal Route, one of the most representative arteries of the city, as it combines a series of old royal residences, parks, and churches. Visit Niepokalanow, an important pilgrimage shrine founded by St. Maximilian Kolbe.
Onwards to Czestochowa to visit the Jasna Gora Monastery, home to the beloved miraculous icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa. Numerous miracles and answered prayers have been attributed to the intercession of Our Lady of Czestochowa. Head off to Lagiewniki to visit the Shrine of the Divine Mercy. At the heart of the shrine stands the chapel, where the miraculous image of the Merciful Jesus and the tomb of St. Faustina are to be found. Stop by the UNESCO-listed Wieliczka Salt Mines, a magical journey along saline corridors of labyrinth passageways, underground lake, extraordinary chambers, and statues carved by miners out of rock salt.
On to Krakow to visit its postcard-perfect Old Town, which comes complete with Europe’s largest medieval market square and a fairytale castle overlooking the river. Proceed to Wadowice, the hometown of St. John Paul II. Take a guided tour of the Pope’s Family Home, now a museum. Celebrate Mass at the Basilica of the Blessed Virgin Mary’s Sacrifice, where Karol Wojtyla was baptized and served as an altar boy in his youth.
Leave Poland for the Czech Republic to spend two nights in Prague, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Celebrate Mass at the Church of Our Lady of Victorious, which houses the original image of the Sto. Nino del Praga.
Head for Vienna, the capital city of Austria. Visit the Klosterneuburg Abbey, one of the places where history is measured out in stone, marble, and gold. Not to be missed is a driving tour around Vienna’s Ringstrasse, the most beautiful boulevard in the world and home to many of Vienna’s best-known sights.
Leave Austria for Hungary and drive to the city of Esztergom, believed to be the birthplace of the first Hungarian King and Saint, Stephen I. Visit the Esztergom Basilica, also known as the Primatial Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Adalbert, the mother church of the Archdiocese of Esztergom-Budapest and the seat of the Catholic Church in Hungary.
Spend your final two nights in Budapest, the capital and most populous city of Hungary. Often described as the “Little Paris of Middle Europe,” Budapest is ranked as “the world’s second-best city” and Europe’s 7th most idyllic place to live. Budapest is famous for its monuments reflecting its 1,000-year-old culture. The capital has two sides, Buda and Pest, stretching along the banks of the Danube, representing two different characters of the city.
Join a 14-day Journey of Faith to Eastern Europe (Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, and Hungary) with Fr. Roland Tuazon, CM, on October 4-17, 2024. May this pilgrimage be a refuge that will provide each pilgrim with the opportunity for spiritual consolation and a renewed vigor for life with God.
Pray for loved ones and their intentions before the miraculous icon of the Black Madonna of Czestochowa in Poland.
Stop by the UNESCO-listed Wieliczka Salt Mines, a magical journey along saline corridors of labyrinth passageways, an underground lake, extraordinary chambers, and statues carved by miners out of rock salt.
Imagine kings and queens being crowned at St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague, a Gothic masterpiece and the spiritual symbol of the Czech Republic.
Vienna, Austria, is world-famous for its excellent coffee and cafés. Experience the best things of life while enjoying a cup of coffee in a Viennese Kaffeehaus!
The Primatial Basilica of the Blessed Virgin Mary Assumed Into Heaven and St. Adalbert, also known as the Esztergom Basilica, displays the largest painting in the world painted on a single piece of canvas.
